CLASP Choir

CLASP is an exciting, interactive and supportive charity, supporting adults with learning disabilities in the Wokingham Borough and surrounding areas. We offer a range of services which include having lots of fun but also working hard to make a positive difference to our community.

Our mission is: “To develop independence through self-advocacy for adults living with a learning disability”.  We deliver this through workshops and training, providing resources and signposting, and peer support.  We’re a small team of staff, volunteers and trustees and are a well-established part of the learning disability community.

CLASP believes that everyone should be valued and treated equally.  Staff and self-advocates work together to raise awareness of learning disabilities and important issues affecting the local learning disability community.  We empower people with learning disabilities to have the same opportunities and choices as everyone else.  Self-advocates are involved in all areas of the charity’s delivery and our Board of Trustees and staff team includes people with learning disabilities.

CLASP have choir twice a month on a Friday with SingHealthy (also a local charity).  It is such fun, and really makes us all feel good.  We help pick the songs we learn and then practice singing them together so that we get to know the words and become better at the different tunes.

We also do sing out sessions for charity, and fund raising for CLASP.

We have also sung in a number of concerts including at St Crispin’s school and at Christmas time with the Singhealthy choir in front of a large audience.  This was great for our confidence and everyone thought we were great.

We hold our sessions at the Bradbury Centre in Wokingham, and it is £1 to come to choir.  You do not have to be a member of CLASP however our membership is free and you then have access to everything we do.
