Meeting Centre
Verified service

Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland has launched a Meeting Centre in its well established Resource Centre at King’s Walk in Earl Shilton.
The Meeting Centre is a social group that supports people who are coming to terms with living with dementia and their families.
Meeting Centres are becoming increasingly popular across the United Kingdom because they offer a safe place where people can adjust to living with a diagnosis of dementia.
Whilst going through the process of receiving a diagnosis of dementia presents challenges, it should not be an experience that leaves people feeling isolated and anxious .The aim of the Meeting Centre is to provide a social group where people can come together to maintain social interaction during a challenging time and when support may be needed to make the emotional, social and practical adjustments that can follow on from a diagnosis.
The Meeting Centre embraces the idea that people can live well with dementia.
