Get free, expert information and advice from Age UK Croydon.

Our Information and Advice service is open to all adults over 50 living in the London Borough of Croydon, including those with care and support needs, their families, carers, and professionals working with them.

How we help:

  • Initial needs assessment by phone, email, or in person at our Brigstock Road office.
  • Information and signposting to local and national services and activities, including Age UK guides and leaflets.
  • Referrals to Age UK Croydon services, including specialist advice and casework.
  • Referrals to other relevant services.

If your query matches our advice topics, we’ll connect you with a specialist Adviser who can support you by phone or, if needed, via a home visit.

Advice topics we cover:

  • Social care – finding a care home, help at home, and care funding.
  • Income – welfare benefits checks, Attendance Allowance, Council Tax Support, Housing Benefit, Pension Credit.
  • Money and consumer issues – cost of living support, charity grants, banking, saving energy, protection from scams.
  • Your home – housing options, staying safe and warm, home adaptations, preventing falls.
  • Your health – age-related health conditions, navigating health services.
  • Local services – information on services available in Croydon.
  • Transport – help applying for Oyster 60+, Taxi Cards, Freedom Passes, Blue Badges.

What we cannot help with: We do not provide advice on under pension-age benefits, financial advocacy, Lasting Power of Attorney and wills form-filling, immigration, appeals and tribunals, debt management, or housing application follow-ups. However, we can signpost you to other organisations for these topics.

Cost: This service is free for eligible Croydon residents.
