Home-Start Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow

Our service

Home-Start Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow is a local community network of trained volunteers who, together with expert staff, offer compassionate, confidential support to struggling families with children under the age of five.

We only accept professional referrals via our online referral form: please click here to refer a family to our service and a member of our team will be in touch soon to talk through the family's situation.

Who we support

Families who have at least one child under the age of five, including mums-to-be in the third trimester of pregnancy, and who are facing challenging times, such as:

  • are experiencing mental health difficulties, including post-natal depression and anxiety
  • are experiencing isolation or loneliness
  • are experiencing relationship issues and/or the effects of domestic abuse
  • are experiencing physical health problems
  • feel that life is unstable because of financial worries or living in poor housing
  • are finding the early years of their children's lives demanding and would like help
  • have children with disabilities or developmental delays

What we offer

A range of support options to families including telephone support, 'walk and talk,' home-visiting and family play-and-support groups, both in-person and online.

Parents supporting Parents

As a local volunteer based charity, we really understand families and our local communities. All our volunteers are parents themselves or have parenting experience. We carefully match one volunteer to each family and they offer support once a week via home-visits or phone calls. They are there to talk through the worries and joys of family life, share ideas and signpost other useful resources.

Family play-and-support groups

In addition to individual volunteer support, we run a weekly term-time play and support group in each of our three boroughs. Parents and children are provided with a safe, nurturing and creative environment that will foster children's development and confidence through playing, exploring and experimenting.

Areas we cover

We support families living across The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and London Borough of Hounslow.

How to refer a family

We accept self-referrals and referrals from professionals, including GPs and other health professionals, midwives and perinatal mental health services, health visitors, social workers, Early Help, social prescribers, children's centres, nurseries and schools, and not-for-profit organisations.

To refer a family for our support, please click here to complete our online referral form. A member of our team will then be in touch soon to talk through the family's situation.
