Derby and Derbyshire Talking Therapies is a confidential NHS-funded service offering free support for common mental health challenges like low mood, stress, and anxiety. If you’re aged 16 or over and registered with a local GP, you can self-refer without needing to see your doctor. From 1 July 2025, NHS Talking Therapies in Derbyshire is delivered by Vita Health Group in partnership with Everyturn; you can refer via the Vita Health Group self-referral link on the Derby Talking Therapies site (derby-talk.co.uk). You can also refer via GP referral or telephone referral. If you would prefer to start a referral by phone, call 03330 417262; lines are open Monday to Thursday 8am–7:45pm and Friday 8am–4:30pm. The service offers a range of talking therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Counselling for Depression, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Talking Therapies for Couples, as well as other formats such as one-to-one sessions, group therapy, and digital programmes. The service is free to use and funded by the NHS. Waiting times targets are published: 75% of people start therapy within 6 weeks of referral and 95% start within 18 weeks. It is not a crisis service; if you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, please visit the Help in a Mental Health Crisis page or the Derby and Derbyshire emotional health and wellbeing website for guidance. Access options include self-referral online, GP referrals, and telephone referrals. The Derby and Derbyshire Talking Therapies hub provides information and resources for people awaiting therapy, and for professionals seeking guidance.
