Freedom Support Kent

Empowering Individuals, Rebuilding Lives

At Freedom Support Kent (FSK), we provide dedicated, compassionate advocacy and support for individuals navigating complex life challenges.
Based in Chatham, our mission is to ensure that everyone we support has access to the stability, rights, and professional guidance they need to move forward.
We believe that everyone deserves to be heard, protected, and empowered to regain control over their own future.

Our Services

We offer a range of specialised advocacy and support services tailored to the unique needs of our clients. We work directly with statutory bodies, local councils, and healthcare providers to ensure our clients receive the appropriate intervention and care.

Domestic Abuse (DA) Mentoring & Advocacy:
We provide structured mentoring programs focused on safety planning and risk assessment using the DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking, and Honour-based violence) model.
We act as independent advocates, assisting with Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and coordinating with police, courts, and housing services to ensure safety.
Our support includes guidance on legal protections, such as non-molestation orders, and pathways to safe accommodation and refuges.

Mental Health Support:
We provide non-clinical mental health support, including conducting standardised screenings (e.g., GAD-7, MDQ, PTSD checklists) to help individuals understand their symptoms.
We advocate for our clients by liaising with GPs, psychiatrists, and mental health services to secure necessary referrals, diagnoses, and treatments.

Housing & Stability Advocacy:
We support clients in urgent housing need, including those fleeing abuse or facing homelessness, by navigating housing applications and advocating for urgent priority status.
We assist with tenancy issues, including reporting disrepair (such as damp and mould) to landlords and councils, and supporting clients in accessing sanctuary schemes to make their homes safer.

Financial & Debt Assistance:
We provide support with welfare benefits, including applications for Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
We act as an intermediary for clients facing financial distress, negotiating payment plans, or seeking help with council tax and debt management with creditors and enforcement agencies.

Our Approach

Freedom Support Kent operates on the principle that responsibility for abuse and life’s hardships does not lie with the individual experiencing them. We offer a person-centered approach that focuses on:
Empowerment: Moving clients from survival mode to thriving through emotional support, boundary-setting, and confidence-building
Active Advocacy: With full client consent, we act on your behalf to communicate with agencies, ensuring your voice is heard and your rights are upheld
Confidentiality: We handle all sensitive personal data with the utmost care, in full compliance with GDPR, to ensure our clients feel safe and secure while working with us.
We are committed to standing by our clients every step of the way until they feel ready to move forward independently.

We are fully insured, IPHM accredited and DBS cleared.
