Founded in 1986 we are here to help the Downland Community with transport to hospitals, doctors, opticians and dentists. All our drivers are volunteers and use their own transport. We recommend a suggested donation to help to cover the drivers mileage and this will be advised when confirming your booking, it will vary depending on the distance covered. Typically transport to The Downland Practice is currently around £1 (formerly £4, but this has been reduced thanks to the generosity of the late Ms Barbara Butlin, who's wish it was that everyone could have access to this wonderful service). Please give as much notice as possible when booking this service to allow the volunteers enough time to source a volunteer driver.
We also operate the valuable Handybus service, it is used for regular shopping trips to Newbury, Wantage and Didcot. There is a standard fee of £4 per round trip. Passengers will be collected from their own home and have assistance with carrying their shopping to their door.
