CBT for young people at risk of youth violence and exploitation

Your Choice is a CBT based progressive programme in which a Specialist Practitioner builds a trusted relationship with their young person to support them to; identify
values, behaviours and interests that best serve them today and in the future.

Your Choice sessions are tailored entirely to the young person and their contexts. The Practitioner advocates for the young person, working closely with adults and professionals around the young person to grow support systems and increase their sense of connectedness to their local community.

Who is eligible?

  • Young people aged between 11-18 at risk of youth violence and exploitation
  • Young people open to selected teams
  • Young people assessed as medium- high risk of contextual harm
  • Young people discussed at Multi Agency Risk Panel within one month
  • Young people who are NEET and/or those in part or full time education

Capacity

Capacity is limited however all referrals are triaged and referred on to the NewMAC to ensure young people and families are offered local support via VCFS partners.

Format

Sessions are 1-1 and can take place in school, at home and/or in the community (at youth zones, centres) . There can be up to 3 sessions per week with the Low Intensity Therapists utilising CBT approaches in unique settings tailored to the young person. Further information about the target population and intended outcomes for the cohort are also attached.

We welcome self, professional and parent/carer referrals via this form.

Young people must be consulted, and their consent obtained for a referral to be made.
