Bikespace is offering participants the opportunity to join us on a bicycle maintenance course. The course is one day a week (Fridays) and operates across roughly 11 weeks - usually in line with school term times.
The course is split in to a morning and afternoon session. The morning session (10:00 - 12:30) is structured and taught, covering a range of bicycle maintenance and repair skills. Bikespace provides all tools/equipment and bikes to work on. Participants for the morning session would be aiming to engage with the project for its duration (although we realise 100% attendance is not always possible). At the end of the course, participants will get a basic bicycle repair tool kit to take away free of charge.
The afternoon session (13:00 - 15:00) is more of an 'open workshop / drop in' environment. It will give people the opportunity to bring their own bike in to work on, under supervision of our trained mechanics. We can also provide a recycled project bike to work on if a participant wanted to learn on a bike that was not their own. The afternoon session can be attended by morning participants in addition to the morning session, as well as new participants who are not involved in the morning.
Participants can come for as little or long as they want, within the 2 hour session, and can come for just one week, or several.
