POhWER provides free, independent advocacy services for residents of Hillingdon. Since 2006, our team has supported people to have their voices heard and their rights respected in health and social care decisions.
We offer a range of advocacy services, including:
- Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) – including support with Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and Relevant Person’s Paid Representative (RPPR).
- Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) – helping people understand and exercise their rights under the Mental Health Act.
- Independent Care Act Advocacy – supporting involvement in decisions made by the local council about care and support.
- Independent Health Complaints Advocacy (IHCA) – helping people who wish to make a complaint about NHS-funded treatment.
- Community Advocacy Service – for Hillingdon residents and their representatives who are not eligible for statutory advocacy but need support with health and social care issues.

Who can use this service? Our advocacy is available to adults living in Hillingdon who need help to be involved in decisions about their care, treatment, or support, or who want help to make their voice heard.
Cost: All POhWER advocacy services are free of charge for eligible users.
Accessibility: We welcome calls via Relay UK for people who are deaf, have hearing loss, or speech impairment. Easy Read materials and accessible formats are available.

People can refer themselves for IMHA, IHCA, and Community Advocacy.
