Steady Steps is a free, group-based falls prevention exercise programme designed for adults aged 65 and over who have suffered a fall, are at increased risk of falling, or may be feeling socially isolated.
Each programme includes weekly 1.5 hour group exercise classes for 24 weeks, featuring a mix of seated and standing exercises. The sessions aim to help participants feel more confident in their daily activities, such as walking to the shops, and support them in safely getting down to and up from the floor.
- Free, fun, and social classes
- Home exercise booklet and diary provided to support exercise at home
- Initial enrolment session includes physical assessments to ensure eligibility
- Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis
For those who have completed the Steady Steps programme, Steady Steps Plus (Maintainers) classes are available at a cost of £4.25 per session. These sessions require booking and are held at Mountsorrel Memorial Centre and John Storer House.
- Mountsorrel Memorial Centre, LE12 7DB: Thursdays, 1.00pm-2.00pm
