Home-Start Horizons is looking for volunteers to support families with young children across Leicestershire and Rutland. As a volunteer, you’ll visit families in their homes for 2-3 hours each week, offering practical and emotional support. No special qualifications are required—just parenting experience, a non-judgmental attitude, and a desire to make a difference.
What you’ll do:
- Support families by visiting them at home weekly
- Offer practical help and emotional encouragement
- Commit to volunteering for at least one year
- Attend a free Volunteer Preparation Course before starting
- Receive ongoing support and training from our coordinators
- Have your travel expenses reimbursed
Who can volunteer?
- Anyone with parenting experience
- People from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds
- Those who can bring unique skills and lived experiences
We also welcome volunteers for other roles, including fundraising, social media, photography, administration, helping at playgroups, driving families to appointments, and more. If you have a skill or idea, we’d love to hear from you!

- Leicester: Training begins 18th January 2024 (LE4)
- Melton: Training set for Feb/March 2024
All training is free, travel expenses are paid, and refreshments are provided. If current dates don’t work, email us to register your interest for future sessions.
