Samaritans is here to listen, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you're struggling, feeling overwhelmed, or experiencing suicidal thoughts, you can talk to a trained volunteer who will listen without judgment and help you feel less alone.
We offer free, confidential support for anyone in emotional distress, including those worried about someone else. Our volunteers are available by phone, email, letter, and in person at local branches across the UK and Ireland.
- Call 116 123 for free – day or night, from any phone.
- Email us for support and a listening ear.
- Write a letter if you prefer to express yourself in writing.
- Find a branch to visit in person for face-to-face support.
We also provide resources and guidance for people bereaved by suicide, support groups, and advice for those supporting someone with suicidal thoughts. Our work includes campaigning for suicide prevention, training for frontline workers, and raising awareness to help save lives.
There is no cost to use Samaritans' support services. Donations are welcome to help us continue our life-saving work.
Who can use this service?
