NASSA (National All Star Skills Academy) is a community-based basketball organisation dedicated to supporting young people in the London Borough of Newham and surrounding areas. Our mission is to build ambitious, successful, and responsible young adults by providing a positive alternative to anti-social behaviour.
We offer a wide range of programmes and opportunities, including:
- Extra-curricular school training clubs
- Saturday Academy
- High Flyers Developmental Programme
- Volunteer programme
- Coaching qualifications and NVQs
- Summer scheme and holiday clubs
- Outreach work in local parks
Our approach combines education, aspiration, development, mentoring, discipline, and community engagement. We believe academic achievement is as important as athletic ambition, and we strive to help our players enjoy both study and sport. NASSA provides consistent motivation, helping young people set realistic goals and pursue their dreams.
We actively work to combat violence and trauma in our community, using basketball as a tool to keep young people safe and engaged. Our structured programmes for older participants (14+) include guidance to steer them away from alcohol and drug abuse.
Volunteering is at the heart of NASSA, and we welcome anyone who wants to be part of the largest basketball community project in London. We reward those who contribute most to our charity, offering many different opportunities.
Competition is a vital part of our development pathway, with opportunities for boys and girls to compete at England Basketball National League level. Every year, we expand our National League programme to help individuals fulfil their true potential.
NASSA is proud to have received multiple awards, including Charity of the Year in The Charity Awards 2014 and recognition from the Metropolitan Police for our services to the community.
We create a fun, family environment where trust and support are central. Our work is supported by local schools, the Metropolitan Police, and the wider community.
