Zest Medway: enriching dementia arts experiences
Verified service

Zest Groups by Bright Shadow offer weekly creative sessions for people living with dementia or memory problems, as well as their supporters. These groups are designed to be safe, accessible, and welcoming to all, regardless of previous creative experience.

Each session is led by professional artists—including musicians, poets, and visual artists—who tailor activities to the interests and needs of participants. The sessions are mood-boosting, invigorating, and help enhance communication and relationships. They provide a fun, affirming way to stay connected and continue leading fulfilling lives.

  • Sessions take place weekly in Medway, Whitstable, and Dover.
  • Everyone is welcome: you can attend on your own or with a supporter. Supporters are equally welcome.
  • Each session ends with a friendly catch-up over tea, coffee, and biscuits.
  • Free taster sessions are available so you can try before committing.
  • Sessions are free of charge, with a suggested donation of £5 per session to support the charity's work.

Access is flexible: you can join at any time if there is space, and you are welcome back even if you miss a week.

Personal care is not provided, so those needing support should attend with a supporter.

If you need help with transport, Bright Shadow can advise on local community transport schemes.
