WHO WE ARE
We began in 1972 as a women’s group and have grown to become a small, community-based, grass roots, registered charity which is run by women for women.
Our aim is to help women and their children who have been or are being subjected to, domestic abuse in any form to free themselves from the situation they are in.
We do this by providing safe housing and a range of support services, before during and after leaving their abusive partner/family member. We will assist you through your whole journey.
We support all women irrespective of whether they want to leave the relationship or not, older women, younger women, historic or current abuse; any woman. We will assist you with any other issues you may be experiencing along side your abuse, for example surrounding: immigration, discrimination, disability, LGBT, housing, debt management, alcohol and drug abuse, multiple needs, or no recourse to public funds (NRPF).
These services are run by staff and volunteers and are free of charge.
All of our staff are female, and you will be able to speak to us without fear of being judged. We can help you and support you in making your own choices.
We are committed to providing quality services to any woman experiencing any form of domestic violence and abuse including Forced Marriage, Honour Based Abuse (FM/HBA) and Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM or FGC).
You should not have to live in fear of the person you love.
Alongside our current service provision, we are also able to support children with specific support programmes, both 1-1 and in a group, male victims of abuse and also female perpetrators. Please call 0800 111 4998 to refer to any of our services.
Our services are free and confidential.
We are governed by a board of directors who are all volunteers, members of the local community and whose responsibility it is to provide governance and employ staff to deliver services.
We raise funds from a variety of sources, including the local authority, trust funds, foundations and fundraising events. We also receive donations from the public and local businesses, which we rely heavily on due to the decreasing availability of funds to bid for.
Data Protection (GDPR)
We take your privacy and consent to keep your data very seriously. We have a dedicated Data Protection Officer who has responsibility for monitoring compliance, educating staff, providing advice and information and co-operating with the supervisory authority. For further information or for our Privacy Notice, please contact our Data Protection Officer at dataprotection@coventryhaven.co.uk.
Our Social Responsibility
We are very aware of the social responsibility that we have as an organisation, to look at the collective benefit to the wider community of everything we do. We achieve value for money to generate benefits for not only our service users, but also to the local community, society and the economy as a whole, whilst minimising damage to the environment.
