Family Group Conferences for Adults living in Reading

Daybreak's Family Group Conferences (FGCs) bring together your support network to help resolve family challenges.

An FGC is a safe, structured meeting where families, friends, and community members work together to create a plan of action. The process is independent and family-led, with a neutral coordinator who empowers families to find their own solutions. Everyone’s voice is heard, including children and young people, ensuring their wishes are included in the plan.

FGCs can help with:

  • Family conflict or separation
  • School behaviour concerns
  • Safety issues (e.g. youth offending, substance abuse, domestic violence)

Daybreak offers FGCs in partnership with Local Authorities for families with children at the edge of care (currently in Portsmouth, Reading, Wiltshire, Bromley, and Hackney). Social Workers can refer families, and an Independent Coordinator facilitates the conference. We also provide FGCs as early intervention through our Dragonfly Project (Portsmouth only), and a private-purchase service for those seeking support without a funded referral.

What makes Daybreak’s FGCs different?

  • Neutral, independent coordinators
  • Voluntary and family-led process
  • Inclusive of extended family, friends, and community
  • Empowers families to create their own solutions

To learn more or arrange a conference, complete a short enquiry form and a member of the Daybreak team will contact you to discuss your options.

Feedback from families:

  • “It now means that we are on the same page and know what is expected of us in the future - so it will be easier for us to move forward.”
  • “Having all grandparents present really helped. We could all talk freely together and get our points across.”
  • “Very helpful programme as family closer than before - things are working really well.”
