The Cumbria Safe Haven is a free mental health service based in Cumbria and who are part of Richmond Fellowship a nationwide mental health charity. The Cumbria Safe Haven provide support in two forms:
They offer up to 8 one-to-one appointments, usually on a weekly basis, and these can be telephone or face-to-face. During the appointments they can work with individuals to help them explore and understand their mental health whilst supporting them to develop healthy coping mechanisms using therapeutic interventions. They also provide emotional support and signposting to relevant services if required. Individuals can self-refer to the service or they can be referred by someone who is supporting them. Referrals can be taken over the phone or via email. They don’t have a waiting list and generally can book appointments the same week the individual is referred. Appointments are available 7 days a week and at different times throughout the day (morning, afternoon and evening).
Support is also provided through weekly mental health community drop-in sessions. These take place in various community venues throughout Allerdale and Copeland. Individuals do not need to refer or book an appointment to attend these drop-ins, they can just turn up, talk with the friendly team of staff, meet other people and learn ways to manage and improve their mental health and wellbeing.
