Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehabilitation (Newham) is a specialist exercise and education programme for people living with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) in the borough of Newham.

Our classes are designed to help you break the cycle of breathlessness, fatigue, and reduced fitness. We empower you with practical techniques and skills to manage your long-term condition, and use outcome measures to show how your functional ability improves throughout the programme.

  • Who can refer? Referrals are accepted from patients themselves, GPs, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Where are classes held? Sessions take place at East Ham Care Centre and St Marks Community Hall (Beckton).
  • Course structure: Patients are enrolled for a 6-week course (meeting twice a week) or a 12-week course (meeting once a week).
  • Positive feedback: We regularly receive encouraging feedback and compliments from patients who attend our programmes.

Service leads: Melissa Sundrum (Clinical Lead for Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services and Long COVID), Joanna Raphael (Interim Deputy Director).
