Tenbury NILS scheme

Tenbury NILS Scheme is a registered charity dedicated to supporting local people in acute financial need across Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Shropshire.

We offer one-off discretionary grants up to £500 to help pay for essential items and services, purchased wherever possible from local suppliers. Our grants are designed to help those experiencing financial difficulties access the basics they need to live, learn, and work.

  • Essential household goods: Washing machines, refrigerators, beds, wardrobes, and more.
  • Access to education: Support for public transport season tickets, laptops, and equipment for learning.
  • Access to employment: Help with costs for accredited training, transport, tools, and equipment to get back into work.

Who can apply?

  • Adults aged 18 or over
  • Residents of Worcestershire, Herefordshire, or Shropshire (minimum 3 months)
  • In receipt of benefits or on a low income
  • Applications must be made via a support worker (e.g. housing officer, Citizens Advice, jobcentre work coach, NHS worker, social worker)

What we do not fund:

  • Mobile phones, dishwashers, televisions, carpets, flooring, gifts, or presents
  • Repairs to property
  • Rent arrears or cash payments
