The Chinese Community in Peterborough offers a welcoming space for people from the Chinese community, as well as anyone interested in Chinese culture and activities. The group provides support, advice, and a variety of opportunities to socialise and connect with others.
Why join?
- Organises courses and activities to support physical activity and wellbeing, including Tai Chi sessions led by a certified instructor.
- Regular social gatherings, wellbeing walks, English lessons, and cultural celebrations such as Chinese New Year.
- Support sessions with local services, district council, and police.
- Activities help people stay connected, avoid loneliness and isolation, and create a sense of belonging.
Tai Chi sessions:
- Held weekly during school terms, Saturdays 10:30am–12:30pm at the Knights Chamber Room, Peterborough Cathedral.
- Sessions are free, funded by the Evelyn Trust.
- Open to all; register your interest online. If oversubscribed, you will be added to a waiting list and notified when a space is available.
Cost: Most activities, including Tai Chi, are free. Some may incur a cost, which will be advertised in advance.
Volunteering: The group participates in Tempo Time Credits for volunteers.
