The Raham Project offers culturally sensitive support and information for Muslim and ethnic minority parents, focusing on pregnancy, birth, and early parenting. The project places a strong emphasis on maintaining and improving maternal mental wellbeing and advocates for the needs of people from ethnic communities.
Founded by Peterborough-based midwife Faiza Rehman, the Raham Project provides:
- A safe and non-judgemental space for mothers and partners from ethnic communities
- A maternity support network for ethnic mothers and their partners
- Awareness of the perinatal period, including a focus on maternal mental wellbeing
- A platform to link families back to their maternity care providers, ensuring care needs are recognised
- Opportunities to help shape local services for the future, based on people’s experiences and feedback
The Raham Project website features a Hub of information written by midwives, covering topics such as pregnancy, birth, early parenting, mental wellbeing, and baby loss. You can also find events—both online and face-to-face—and opportunities to volunteer.
Visit their website for more information and resources.
