New Meaning Foundation builds homes for the ex-homeless and provides training and employment for young people and adults experiencing hardship, homelessness, and disadvantage. Based in Waterbeach, the Foundation offers a welcoming workshop and alternative education space where you can learn practical skills and gain qualifications.
What we offer:
- On-the-job training in the construction industry for young people (age 14+) and adults who are long-term unemployed, ex-homeless, or have dropped out of mainstream education.
- Opportunities to gain Employability and Functional Skills qualifications.
- Supportive, flexible tutors who care about helping you fulfil your potential.
- Multiple pathways to skills and qualifications, tailored to your age, experience, and goals.
- Small group or one-to-one training and courses available throughout Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
- Free courses – there is no cost to attend.
- If construction isn’t for you, tutors can discuss other options for work, study, life-skills, and independent living.
How to access:
- Contact the team directly for a friendly chat, or ask a professional (GP, social worker, youth worker, or social prescribing link worker) to refer you.
- If you are concerned about travel costs or arrangements, speak to the team for advice and support.
Hear from our learners: “I nearly didn’t turn up. I thought ‘it’s not for me, it’s going to be rubbish’ but the very first session we had was really good. Really positive feedback and it sort of gave me a line where I wanted to go in life.” – Fleur
