YMCA Thames Gateway Group runs a free, 10‑week Cancer Rehab Programme in Havering for people who have been diagnosed with cancer or are undergoing cancer treatment. The programme combines a gentle, individually-tailored exercise plan with lifestyle support to help you regain strength, reduce treatment-related symptoms and improve overall wellbeing in a friendly, supportive environment.
What you get:
- An informal, one‑to‑one consultation with a qualified coach to discuss your cancer journey, treatment side effects, lifestyle changes and the benefits of a tailored exercise programme.
- A flexible, bespoke 10‑week exercise and lifestyle programme – provided on a 1:1 basis, with the option to participate in suitable classes and activities.
- Access to a wide range of fitness classes and activities suitable for all levels, delivered in a friendly environment.
- Potential to reduce symptoms related to cancer and its treatment, improve energy, mobility and daily functioning, and support your overall recovery journey.
How to access:
- Referrals are welcomed from individuals, families, carers, GPs and hospital discharge staff.
- Download a referral form and return it to fitnessforyou@ymcatg.org. If you’d prefer to speak to someone in person, you can call 01708 766211.
- The programme is FREE for eligible participants, though funding is subject to availability and instructor availability. The service relies on donations and may not always be funded.
