Empowering Deaf Society (EDS) is a charity run by the Deaf, for the Deaf. We are dedicated to supporting Deaf individuals and the wider community through a range of accessible services and activities.
Our services include:
- Education Services: British Sign Language (BSL) courses from taster sessions to Level 6, designed to help you learn and improve your BSL skills.
- Professional Services: Interpreter and Deaf Interpreter/Translator support to ensure clear communication in all settings.
- Advocacy Service: Support and representation for Deaf individuals navigating services and systems.
- Information, Advice and Guidance: Practical help and signposting for a range of issues affecting the Deaf community.
- Deaf Clubs, Events and Social Activities: Regular clubs and events to connect with others, build friendships, and reduce isolation.
- Deaf Awareness Training: Sessions for NHS and other organisations to improve accessibility and understanding.
All our services are delivered in a Deaf-friendly environment, with a focus on accessibility, inclusion, and empowerment. Whether you want to learn BSL, need advocacy, or are looking for social opportunities, EDS is here to help.

How to access: Contact us by email, phone, SMS, or video call. Our office is open Monday to Friday, 9am–9pm, and Saturday 9am–4pm. We are based in Ilford, London, and welcome enquiries from across the region.
