Join our friendly team and help share Keswick’s rich history!
Volunteering at Keswick Museum is a rewarding way to connect with your community, learn new skills, and make a real difference. Our volunteers play a vital role in welcoming visitors, supporting educational activities, caring for our historic building and gardens, and helping with retail and events.
- Current roles include: Visitor Welcome, Learning & Schools, Building Maintenance and/or Gardening, Retail Administration, Musical Stones performances, and more.
- Help promote the museum through leafleting, events, and social media.
- Support our regular dementia group, Tuesday’s Tonic.
We offer a full induction, ongoing training, and support. Volunteers are recognised through social events and trips, and receive the Northern Museums Volunteer Pass for free entry to museums across the North.
Flexible opportunities: Most roles are for a few hours a week, but we’re happy to discuss arrangements that suit you. We welcome volunteers aged 18+, and have some opportunities for young people aged 14–19. There is no upper age limit.
- No specific skills or experience required for most roles.
- 3-month trial period for most roles to help you find the right fit.
- Travel and childcare costs may be covered through our Access All Areas project.
- Volunteering is open to non-British nationals (check visa requirements).
- Applicants with unspent criminal convictions are considered individually; some roles may require a Basic DBS check.
How to apply: Download our application form and email it to operations@keswickmuseum.org.uk or call us on 017687 73263. You can also use the enquiry form on our website.
