Shepshed Volunteer Driver
Verified service

Shepshed Volunteer Centre is at the heart of the Shepshed community, offering a wide range of services and activities designed to support local residents and encourage social connection.

Our services include:

  • Activity Shed Groups: Join a friendly, flexible space for social gatherings, crafting, and conversation. The insulated and heated shed, located in our well-being garden, is perfect for connecting with others or hosting your own group.
  • Community Transport: Volunteer drivers help those unable to use public transport get to local appointments or hospitals. Charges cover fuel and vehicle costs, plus a small admin fee. All drivers are DBS checked.
  • Jigsaw Library: Purchase or donate jigsaws for a £2 donation, supporting our services and providing enjoyable activities for the community.
  • Gardening Scheme: Teams of volunteers visit registered households for mowing, weeding, and light pruning from spring to autumn. Donations help cover equipment and tool costs.
  • Well-being Garden: A peaceful community garden behind the centre, hosting scheduled groups and offering a relaxing space for gardening and socialising.
  • Befriending Scheme: Volunteer befrienders are paired with individuals at risk of social isolation, providing companionship and support. Volunteers require two references and a DBS check.
  • Digital Drop-In: Get help with scheduling appointments, using apps, video calls, social media, emails, and basic device navigation. Available Thursdays 12–2:30pm.

Our services are coordinated by a dedicated staff member and delivered by a team of passionate volunteers. If you’d like to volunteer or learn more, please contact us by phone or email.

Costs: Some services request a small donation to help cover expenses. Community transport charges are based on fuel and admin costs; the jigsaw library asks for a £2 donation per jigsaw.

Get involved: Whether you’re seeking support or looking to volunteer, Shepshed Volunteer Centre is here to help you connect, grow, and thrive in your community.
