Skate Gals & Pals is a vibrant, inclusive collective using sport—especially skateboarding—as a tool for development, social innovation, and empowerment. We focus on supporting adults from marginalised communities, including the LGBTQIA+ community, Black and People of Colour (BPOC), and those of marginalised genders.
Our mission is to create safe, welcoming spaces for physical activity and community building, free from harassment, discrimination, and exclusion. We offer a range of activities designed to meet the needs of our communities:
- Weekly skate meet-up sessions for adults, held every Saturday from April to October at Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park, E15, from 14:30 until sunset.
- Creative and holistic workshops to foster wellbeing and self-expression.
- Skate trips and retreats for BPOC adults, including transformative experiences like our Morocco trip, which focused on mutual aid, knowledge sharing, and cross-cultural connection.
We encourage everyone—especially those who have felt excluded from sport—to get active, connect locally and globally, and build lasting friendships. Our work has reached over 1,500 adults and children in London and 10,000 people worldwide, both virtually and in-person.
Who is it for? Our sessions and events are open to adults from marginalised genders, the LGBTQIA+ community, BPOC, and children in deprived areas of London. We are committed to tackling the Ethnicity Sport Gap and supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of QTBPOC and socio-economically disadvantaged minors.
How to join: Just come along to a Saturday meet-up at Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park, E15, or check our website for upcoming events and workshops. No prior experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm!
