Age UK Hertfordshire's Handyperson service is designed to help older people across Hertfordshire live independently and safely in their own homes. Our trusted, fully DBS-checked and insured staff can assist with a wide range of basic DIY tasks, making everyday living easier and more comfortable.
What we offer:
- Installation of curtain poles and window blinds
- Building flat pack furniture
- Installing grab rails
- Wall hangings
- Installing Keysafe (materials should be supplied by the client)
All staff are knowledgeable and friendly, ensuring a reliable and supportive service for older residents.
Pricing:
- Standard hourly rate: £26.50
- Installation of curtain pole/window blind up to 6ft: £40; over 6ft: £64 (excluding materials)
- Large/heavy wall hangings or double wardrobes may require two staff (£53 per hour)
- Grab rail installation to tiled wall: £37.50 per rail (excluding materials)
- Handrail installation along staircase: £110 (excluding materials)
- Keysafe installation: £98.45 (including key safe)
All payments are taken on the day by debit or credit card only.
Winter Welfare Checks: From November to February, we offer free Winter Welfare Checks funded by Hertfordshire County Council. These checks can provide and install items such as draught excluders, radiator reflector strips, energy efficient light bulbs, and more.
