Free ESOL, English and Maths Courses for All
Newham Council offers a wide range of free courses to help adults improve their English language, maths, and basic skills. Courses are available at various times throughout the day and typically run for 12 weeks, making it easy to fit learning around your schedule.
- ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages): Classes are available for complete beginners as well as confident speakers. All courses include citizenship and employability topics.
- Specialist ESOL Courses: Choose from ESOL with IT, ESOL for dressmaking, ESOL for employability, and ESOL for childcare.
- Basic Skills: Brush up on reading, writing, or maths. Progress to functional skills to help you get a job.
- Creative and Everyday Skills: Enjoy relaxed courses like 'writing for fun' and 'reading for pleasure'.
- Support for Learning Difficulties: Additional help is available for those with learning difficulties such as dyslexia.
To enrol, you will first be assessed to find the right course for your needs. Teachers will work with you to plan your learning goals.
Exams: Speaking and listening exams are available at all levels, starting at entry 1 ESOL. Level 1 and 2 ESOL exams cover speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
