
Richmond Council Leisure Services are piloting an Exercise on Referral service called the Active Living Programme.
The Active Living Programme offers group-based, supervised physical activity sessions for individuals who are sedentary and have at least one established long-term health condition.
The programme is delivered in leisure facilities across the borough.

To be eligible for the service, the individual must satisfy ALL the following criteria:
1. Richmond resident who are age ≥ 18 and/or registered with a GP in Richmond
2. Classified as physically inactive (not currently achieving at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity in a typical week).
3. Have at least one of the following chronic medical conditions:
· Hyperlipidaemia (Controlled)
· Hypertension (Controlled)
· Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes (Controlled)
· Fibromyalgia
· Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
· Osteoporosis
· Osteoarthritis
· Rheumatoid Arthritis
· Lower Back Pain
· Asthma
· Anxiety/Depression (mild to moderate mental health conditions)
And MUST NOT have any of the following conditions:
1. Pregnant
2. Need a rehabilitation exercise programme tailored to support recovery from specific conditions including cardiac rehabilitation, stroke, pulmonary rehabilitation, neuromuscular disease.
3. Unstable/uncontrolled moderate/severe mental health condition.
4. Participants with contraindications for exercise according to current British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) guidelines.
