Free adult cycle training - Newton Abbot

Boost your cycling skills and confidence with Active Devon’s free adult cycle training sessions!

Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to cycling after a break, or looking to build confidence for commuting, our friendly instructors are here to support you. We offer a range of sessions tailored to different needs and abilities, all in small, supportive groups. You don’t even need your own bike – you can borrow one for free during your session.

  • Learn to Ride (Beginners): Perfect for those new to cycling or lacking confidence. Sessions take place away from roads and cover helmet fitting, bike safety checks, mounting and balancing, controlling your bike, cornering, braking, and signalling.
  • Learn to Ride with Female Instructor: All the benefits of our beginner session, delivered by a female instructor for those who prefer a female-led space. Slightly longer (1.5 hours) and run in groups of up to six.
  • Cycle Confidence (Mixed Ability): Improve your confidence making short journeys on quiet roads and cycle paths. Learn about helmet fitting, bike safety, using gears, riding safely among traffic, and cycling in small groups.
  • Confidence on Roads (Intermediate): For intermediate riders, this session focuses on safe road positioning, navigating traffic, and handling junctions. Lasts up to two hours.
  • Workplace Cycle Training: Bespoke sessions delivered at your workplace for you and your colleagues, free of charge. Bikes and helmets can be provided.
