Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland's Dementia Support Service offers comprehensive, personalised support for people living with dementia and their carers across Leicester and Leicestershire.

What we offer:

• Personalised One-to-One Support: Tailored information and advice to help people living with dementia and their carers throughout their journey. Support is available face-to-face in your home, at a Dementia Support Clinic, over the telephone, or online.
• Emotional Support: Short-term emotional support to help you cope and focus on your strengths and abilities.
• Access to Services: Guidance to help you connect with other health, social care, and community services.
• Post Diagnostic Information Sessions: Weekly online and face-to-face sessions to help you understand dementia, learn strategies to manage symptoms, plan ahead, and discover local services.
• Memory Cafes and Social Groups: Join Memory Cafes, peer groups, and social activities such as walking, gardening, and trips out to connect with others and enjoy meaningful activities.
• Informal Carer Learning: Families and informal carers can access learning sessions to gain knowledge and skills for supporting loved ones with dementia. Topics include understanding dementia, strategies for support, managing money, planning for the future, and self-care. Ad hoc sessions cover first aid, mindfulness, and moving & handling.
