Bereavement Support by telephone
Our Listening Ear Service is available to anyone living in Cornwall who has experienced the recent death of a loved one. Although not a counselling service, we are able to offer free information, support and signposting via the telephone for 6 calls of up to an hour each. You can self-refer – call us on 01726 829 874 or send an email to communityservices@cornwallhospice.co.uk – one of our team will answer your call or email to find out more about you and ensure this is the right service for you and work with you to arrange the support calls at a time to suit you. Our dedicated and compassionate team will be your listening ear on the six support calls.
Drop-in sessions
Our Bereavement Help Points take the form of a monthly drop-in space for anyone who has been bereaved. We offer a relaxed and supportive group environment for conversations, peer support, signposting and refreshments.
There is no requirement to contact us beforehand, or book in advance, although we’re happy to chat with you to tell you more and confirm if this service is right for you. These bereavement support sessions run for 2 hours and you can arrive and leave to suit you. We are currently running sessions at the following venues and times:
Treverbyn Community Hall near St Austell, held on the first Monday of each month (unless this falls on a bank holiday – please call 01726 829874 to check the date), from 10.00am to midday 12.00pm
St Julia’s Hospice, Hayle on the first Wednesday of each month, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm
Mount Edgcumbe Hospice, St Austell on the third Friday of each month, from 10.30am to 12.30pm
Cornwall Hospice Care Neighbourhood Hub, Chapel Street, Redruth on the third Thursday of each month, from 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Please check our Events Calendar for upcoming session dates and times or call us on 01726 829 874.
Walking groups
If you are a bereaved adult and enjoy walking with some company, then our Walk Talk Kernow sessions could be for you. Each event supports social connections with others who are also experiencing grief, whilst you enjoy the fresh air and nature around you. We usually stroll for 1 to 2 miles and end our walk somewhere where we can enjoy a drink and perhaps some cake too.
There is no requirement to contact us beforehand, or book in advance, although we’re happy to chat with you to tell you more and confirm if this service is right for you.
