Tennis Coaching and Playing

Hylands Tennis Club is a welcoming, not-for-profit community tennis club in Hornchurch, Essex, dedicated to making tennis fun and accessible for children and young people aged 4 to 17.

Our Learn & Play Programme offers group tennis classes and private lessons for all playing levels, run by our coaching provider of choice, Jack Woollcott Tennis Academy. We use full-size and kid-sized courts, a sports hall, and floodlights to ensure a safe and friendly environment for every player.

  • Programmes for all ages: Blue (4-6 years), Red (6-8 years), Orange (8-10 years), Green (10-14 years), and Yellow (14-17 years). Children are placed in groups based on ability, not just age.
  • LTA Tennis for Kids: A fun starter course for beginners, packed with games and training drills. Parents are welcome to join in, and every child receives a tennis racket, balls, branded T-shirt, activity cards, lanyard, stickers, and a certificate. Sessions are £29.99 (+£5 P&P) and must be booked via the LTA website.
  • Free trial sessions: Register for a free trial in our Learn & Play Programme, following LTA Youth guidelines.
  • Holiday Tennis Camps: Organised during school holidays for children and young people of all ages. Sign up for notifications to stay informed about upcoming camps and events.
  • Private Coaching: One-to-one or couples coaching available in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions to help you improve your skills at your own pace.
  • Competitions: Fun, friendly competitions held throughout the year to encourage social interaction, communication skills, and sportsmanship.
  • Community Play Programme: Opportunities for everyone in the community to play at social days and events.

To participate, all members are asked to purchase a Season Access Pass (SAP) for £49 per season, renewed annually. This pass provides access to exclusive activities, use of courts during coaching programmes, discounts, eligibility for free LTA Advantage membership, and entry into the Wimbledon Ballot.

Facilities: Limited car parking is available. The club is easily accessible by car and train (15-minute walk from Elm Park Station).

Join us today to help your child develop skills, make friends, and build a lifelong love of tennis in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
