Singing Mamas on Prescription ('SMOP') groups are designed for women who are pregnant or have a baby under 1 year, specifically to support their perinatal mental health. SMOP groups are fully funded, so that it is free for women (and their infants) to attend.
Our welcoming groups are designed for women of all backgrounds, with or without children, and no musical experience is needed. Every session is about making YOU feel good—there are no auditions, no solos, and no need to read music. Songs are taught by ear, line by line, so everyone can join in and enjoy the harmonies together.
What to expect:
- Simple songs and harmonies, taught by ear
- Warm, friendly atmosphere—babies are welcome
- Time for a cuppa and cake at every session
- Opportunities to connect with other women and tune in to yourself and your little one
Benefits of joining:
- Improve your mood—singing releases 'happy hormones' and acts as a natural anti-depressant
- Reduce stress—gentle lullabies soothe your nervous system and your child’s
- Find connection—build friendships and community in a supportive space
This group is funded by Medway Family Hubs Start for Life Programme. You need to be a Medway resident to join the course.
For pregnant women and those with babies under 1 year of age who are Medway residents.
