Occupational Therapy

Struggling with everyday tasks at home? Sutton Council’s Occupational Therapy service is here to help you live more independently and safely in your own home.

Our team can recommend specialist equipment and home adaptations tailored to your needs. We support adults who:

  • Are physically disabled
  • Are recovering from illness or surgery
  • Have learning disabilities
  • Experience mental health problems
  • Are getting older

What we offer:

  • Free occupational therapy assessments
  • Advice on equipment and home adaptations
  • Lending of equipment (keep it as long as you need)
  • Recommendations for minor and major home changes, such as grab rails, stairlifts, ramps, and accessible kitchen units
  • Support to move around your home, use stairs, wash, dress, use the toilet, get in/out of bed or chairs, and prepare food
  • Advice or referrals to other agencies if needed

How it works:

  • Request an assessment online or via phone
  • We’ll contact you within 10 working days to discuss your needs
  • A home visit may be arranged for a full assessment
  • We’ll recommend solutions and may lend you equipment

Cost: Assessments and equipment we lend are free of charge. Minor adaptations are free; for major changes, you may be eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant.

Who should not use this service: If you need physiotherapy, walking aids, wheelchairs, or pressure care equipment, please contact your GP or relevant NHS service.

Contact us today to request an occupational therapy assessment and start making your home safer and easier to live in.
