Bat and Chat

Bat and Chat sessions are run by the Active Lifestyles Team at Cambridge City Council. These friendly, informal sessions invite you to drop in for a game of table tennis, badminton, or pickleball, followed by a chat over a cuppa. No previous experience is needed and all equipment is provided.

Why join Bat and Chat?

  • Enjoy gentle exercise in a welcoming, social environment.
  • Meet new people from your local area and make new friends.
  • Have fun, learn new skills, and boost your wellbeing.

Each session starts with an hour of informal games (table tennis, badminton, pickleball, and sometimes boccia or indoor curling), followed by half an hour of socialising over tea and coffee. The emphasis is on fun, not competition!

Sessions are facilitated by Fred from Cambridge City Council, who will introduce you to the group and offer guidance if needed. All ages and abilities are welcome—just come along and give it a try!
