Learning Disability Nursing


Who we are
The children’s learning disability nursing service is a small team of learning disability nurses who specialise in supporting children and their families either in small groups or 1:1.

What do we do
The key areas we cover are:

We specialise in sleep, continence and behaviour management in children of all ages with Learning Disabilities.
Post diagnostic support – supporting children and families following the diagnosis of a Learning Disability.
Support for children and families of children with Learning Disabilities with managing  puberty and sexual development.
Transition of care to adult services for children and families of children with Learning Disabilities.
Nursing support for children who attend Dane Court, Bradfields and Rivermead schools. This includes advice and support to the children, families and schools, as well as health care plan and continence clinics in school.
We also provide support and education for Public Health nurses and mainstream schools in managing a child with Learning Disabilities.
