People Need People - Digital Skills and Friendship Club

Frames of Mind deliver digital inclusion programmes and heritage projects, championing the potential of smart technology to combat social isolation and build connected resilient communities.

Acknowledging the impact of our programmes to support the health and wellbeing of it's residents, Newham Council has provided us with with a fleet of iPads to use as teaching and learning resource. People Need People is funded by Newham Council's democratic community voting platform, People Powered Places.

PEOPLE NEED PEOPLE:

Beginners welcome – iPads provided, please bring your smart phone.

Thursdays 11.00am - 1.00pm at Stratford Library, 3 The Grove, London E15 1EL.

PEOPLE NEED PEOPLE is an 3 x  8 week 2 x hour PRACTICAL, CREATIVE & ACTIVE  training programme where participants experiencing anxiety and social isolation can meet people and learn new digital skills using their smart phones and tablets

Delivered in the welcoming and inclusive space of Stratford Library by experienced facilitators, the programme is co-devised with participants in response to their needs and interests. PEOPLE NEED PEOPLE approach ensures learning is meaningful and embedded, inspiring participants to see the potential of their smart devices, as tools for advocacy.

PEOPLE NEED PEOPLE supports participants to:

CONNECT - combating isolation.
Internet literacy to access vital services, best-value deals, local events, courses and social activities. Zoom proficiency, texts and emails, to stay in touch with friends and family. Downloading Apps.

BE CREATIVE – improving mental wellbeing.
Digital art, photography, creative writing, digital scrap-books. 
Creative decision making is empowering and fundamental to sense-of-self.

BE ACTIVE –  improving health and mental wellbeing.
Bi-monthly energising stretch exercises & Bollywood dance, delivered by health and fitness practitioners.
Photography field-trips in nature, heritage and architecture walks. Connecting with the local environment.
