The Children's Foundation is a small, independent charity dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and young people from birth to 18 in the North East of England. Founded in 1990 in Newcastle upon Tyne, the Foundation was established in response to the region's urgent child health needs. Through its landmark 'Yellow Brick Road Appeal', the charity raised £12 million to build The Sir James Spence Institute of Child Health, which was gifted to the NHS and remains a hub for childhood health research.
What We Do:
- We support the most vulnerable and marginalised children and young people, making serious issues fun and accessible.
- Our flagship Baby Box Project helps babies in the North East get the best start in life, providing essential resources and support for families.
- We run events and initiatives, such as the 'Toddling On Baby Box Picnic', bringing together families for connection and support.
- We collaborate with partners, including local businesses, to extend our reach and impact.
How You Can Help:
- Donate to help us continue our vital work—every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
- Get involved through volunteering, fundraising, or supporting our campaigns.
Our Commitment: We receive no statutory funding and rely on the generosity of supporters to make a real difference in children's lives. Our team is available daily to answer questions and provide support.
