The Child Health Information Service (CHIS) is dedicated to collecting and providing high quality child health information for children and young adults aged 0 to 19 years across Kent and Medway.
Our team works closely with GP practices, schools, local authorities, and other NHS organisations to support the delivery of healthcare services for children and young people. We update the national child health record and manage key health milestones, including:
- Newborn screening: Recording screening checks, blood spot screening, NIPE (Newborn Infant Physical Examination), and newborn hearing up to the first birthday.
- Pre-school: Documenting checks and immunisations from birth until starting school, scheduling and recording immunisations, and supporting development checks.
- School age: Managing health records and immunisations from school entry up to the 20th birthday, including the national child measurement programme, hearing and vision checks, flu programme, HPV, TdIPV (School Leaver Booster), and MENACWY.
We also maintain demographic records for children moving within or into/out of the Kent and Medway area, ensuring continuity of care and accurate health information.
