Celebrating Our Past, Creating Our Future!
The Queer Arts & Heritage Project by Blossom LGBT CIC is a vibrant, history-focused initiative designed to explore and promote the rich heritage of the LGBTQIA+ community. We offer free-to-attend queer-focused art workshops, exhibitions, and research activities that celebrate our community’s stories and artistic contributions.
What We Do:
- Monthly open-access workshops for LGBTQ+ young adults, exploring historical themes and reinterpreting our past using modern media (TikTok, phone cameras, magazines, acrylics, bold pastels, and lighting).
- Annual exhibitions showcasing work created in workshops, featuring local artists and sharing our community’s stories with a wider audience.
- Community building and empowerment, bridging the gap between past and future for LGBTQ+ individuals.
- Commitment to sustainability by using recycled and eco-friendly resources, and choosing venues close to public transport.
Why It Matters:
- Addresses the historical erasure of LGBTQIA+ heritage from mainstream education.
- Empowers individuals by sharing stories that inspire pride, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
- Promotes inclusivity, representation, and environmental responsibility.
