Adult Social Care

Luton Council’s Adult Social Care team is here to help adults and carers in Luton access the care and support they need to live independently and safely.

We support people who struggle with day-to-day tasks due to physical disabilities, learning disabilities, long-term health conditions, frailty, mental ill-health, or substance abuse. Carers who look after adult friends or family members can also get support to maintain their own wellbeing.

Our care and support services include:

  • Support, home adaptations, and home care to help you remain independent in your own home
  • Help to access a suitable care home if living at home is no longer an option
  • Temporary support, such as reablement or rehabilitation after an accident, illness, or hospital stay

How to get help:

  • Start with our online self-assessment to quickly find out if you’re eligible for care and support
  • Contact our Customer Service Centre to discuss your needs or request emergency care

What happens next?

  • If eligible, a social worker will contact you to discuss your needs in detail
  • You’ll receive an estimated personal budget to spend on care and support that fits your assessed needs
  • Together, you’ll create a care and support plan
  • Services will be put in place once your plan is agreed
  • Your finances will be assessed to determine if you need to contribute towards the cost
  • Your care and support will be reviewed regularly, and you can request a review at any time

We’re committed to helping you or your loved ones access the right support, whether you qualify for council-funded care or need advice about other help available in Luton.
