Floating Support - Independent Living

Floating Support from Independent Living Agency (ILA) helps vulnerable people in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham to remain living independently in their own homes.

This service is designed to support you through housing crises, build your skills and confidence, and empower you to take control of your life and decisions.

What can Floating Support help you with?

  • Moving into new accommodation and setting up a tenancy
  • Resolving problems in your home that may lead to homelessness
  • Learning new skills to help you live independently
  • Ensuring you are receiving all your benefits
  • Finding out about local activities and opportunities
  • Getting back to work
  • Accessing physical and mental health services, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle

What can't Floating Support do?

  • Personal care or domestic tasks (such as cooking, cleaning, DIY, or gardening)
  • Counselling or befriending support

Who is eligible?

  • Vulnerable people living in independent accommodation in Barking & Dagenham
  • People experiencing mental health difficulties, alcohol or drug dependency, physical disability, sensory impairment, learning disability or difficulty, young people at risk or leaving care, older people, those with a history of homelessness, offenders, and people at risk of offending or domestic violence
