Carers Central

Carers Central is a free, friendly hub supporting the 19,000 unpaid adult carers in Luton. We help carers access the information, advice, and support they need to live their own lives alongside their caring roles.

Our experienced team offers:

  • Guidance on carer’s benefits, money, discounts, Blue Badge applications, and more.
  • Direct Payments support: Help arranging personal care assistants and managing paperwork, so you can live as independently as possible.
  • Practical help: Support with form-filling for Carer’s Allowance, Attendance Allowance, and Needs Assessments. We can also refer you to local services for talking therapy, exercise classes, cleaning, and more.
  • Wellbeing support: Join our weekly carers coffee morning, get help with creating a wellbeing action plan, and receive regular welfare phone calls if you need ongoing support.
  • Mobility equipment advice: Hire a wheelchair or get expert advice on choosing mobility aids and daily living equipment.
  • Free resources: Download the Luton Carers’ Handbook (available in 11 languages) packed with tips, contacts, and answers to common questions.

We work in partnership with Luton Council and NHS Luton Clinical Commissioning Group to ensure carers get the best possible support. Our service is free and confidential.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Who can use this service? Adult unpaid carers living in Luton, including those caring for relatives or friends due to age, mental health, physical or other disabilities. You are eligible even if you receive Carer’s Allowance.
