National Centre for Domestic Violence

The National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV) offers a fast, free emergency injunction service for anyone at risk of domestic abuse or violence, regardless of financial situation, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality.

What we do:

  • Emergency Legal Protection: We help victims of domestic abuse obtain emergency court injunctions, often within 24 hours of first contact.
  • Free and Accessible: Our service is completely free. We support those who cannot access or afford legal aid, and refer eligible clients to local solicitors for legal aid.
  • Immediate Advice & Support: Our helpline (0800 970 2070) provides free, immediate advice. We also offer information and resources on our website.
  • Partnerships: We work closely with police, solicitors, and agencies such as Refuge and Women’s Aid to ensure speedy protection for victims.
  • Training: Free training is available for police and agencies nationwide, delivered by our specialist trainers.
  • Inclusive & Non-Judgemental: We support people of all backgrounds, including men, women, and children, and those who may not qualify for public funding.

How it works:

  • Anyone who has experienced or been threatened with domestic abuse can apply for an emergency injunction.
  • Referrals can be made directly by victims, professionals, or third parties using our online portal, phone, or text service.
  • Once a referral is received, we aim to make contact the next working day and guide you through the process.

Why choose NCDV?

  • Our streamlined process means orders are issued quickly and effectively.
  • We act as an ally to professionals working with victims and survivors.
  • Clients consistently report positive experiences and rapid support.

Cost: This service is free of charge to all clients.
