Connect to Tech: Support in Your Home

Connect to Tech is a friendly, practical service from Ruils Independent Living, designed to help adults get online and make the most of technology. Whether you want to set up a new device, learn how to use apps, or connect with friends and family, our IT support team is here to help.

How we help:

  • We can visit you in your home to set up your device and ensure it works for your needs.
  • We offer hands-on support to help you learn how to use all the features your device offers, including troubleshooting common issues.
  • If you don’t own a device, our ‘try before you buy’ scheme lets you borrow items like phones, smart watches, laptops, tablets, and smart speakers for 3 months. We’ll help you choose, set up, and purchase the right equipment after your trial.
  • We can help you set up an email address, connect with people via video calls (WhatsApp, Zoom, etc.), install and use apps (NHS app, BBC Sounds, Audible, Bus Times, Uber, etc.), access social media, shop online, and use accessibility features.

Who can use this service?

  • Adults living in the London Borough of Richmond.
  • Clients and unpaid carers who want to be more independent or connect with their community.

What people say:

“Being able to borrow a laptop from Connect to Tech has let me have fun with my hobbies and see my friends online. Without it, I would have been bored and lonely while I was stuck at home.”
– Andrew, Connect to Tech client
