Home Enteral Nutrition Team – children and adults

The Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN) Team provides expert assessment and ongoing support for children and adults who require enteral tube feeding in the community.

Our multidisciplinary team includes paediatric and adult dietitians, dietetic assistants, nurses, and administration support. We help patients who are unable to meet their nutritional needs by mouth due to physical difficulties, unsafe swallowing, or high nutritional requirements.

What we offer:

  • Comprehensive assessment and regular reviews of nutritional needs, feeding regimens, and equipment.
  • Support at home, in clinics, or in community settings.
  • Coordination with enteral feeding companies for delivery of feeds and equipment.
  • Training and practical support to help you manage feeding at home with confidence.
  • Collaboration with out-of-area specialist teams to ensure your ongoing care and training needs are met locally.
  • Ordering and management of ancillary plastics, tube repair, and replacement.

How it works:

  • Feeds and equipment are delivered monthly by Nutricia Homeward (east Kent) or Abbott Hospital to Home (west Kent).
  • Nutricia and Abbott nurses work closely with our team to provide training and support.
  • We keep your GP informed about your nutritional requirements.

Who can use this service?

  • Children and adults registered with an east or west Kent GP practice.
  • You must be referred by a GP or healthcare professional.
