Care for Carers

Care for the Carers is the leading charity supporting unpaid carers across East Sussex. If you look after a friend, family member, or neighbour who could not cope without your support, we are here to help you.

We offer free, confidential advice, information, and emotional support to carers of all ages. Our services include:

  • One-to-one support and advice for carers
  • Carers Card – apply for an Emergency and Discount East Sussex Carers Card
  • Support groups and social activities for carers
  • Specialist help for young carers
  • Financial advice and support through our Carer Money Matters programme
  • Resources, grants, and digital tools for carers
  • Opportunities to have a break and look after your own wellbeing
  • Professional referrals and advocacy
  • Volunteering opportunities to make a difference in carers’ lives

We run local Carers Centres in Eastbourne, Uckfield, Hastings, and Lewes, offering drop-in sessions, coffee mornings, and a warm welcome for all carers. Some centres are open by appointment only, and activities are advertised or by invitation.

We believe no one should be left to care alone. Our team is here to listen, advise, and connect you with the right support, whether you are new to caring or have been supporting someone for years.

All our services are free and confidential. We can arrange interpreters for carers whose first language is not English.

For urgent support outside office hours, contact Health and Social Care Connect on 0345 60 80 191 (8am to 8pm, 7 days a week).
